critical analysis
- What is happening in this photograph? in this photograph you can see a man/jockey riding a dark coloured horse along what looks to be a road.
- What can you see in the background? in the background there seems to be just a wall.
- Why is the image circular? the image is circular because it has been taken through a pin hole camera - creating the small hole.
- How could you explain the marks on the surface of the print? they are where light hasn't passed through the pin hole properly.
- Why is the image darker around the edges? because the pinhole blocked light around the edges.
- Why is the figure partly transparent (see-through)? because the light hasn't solidified his shape.
- How do you think the photographer made this picture? with a pin hole camera and a lot of patience.
- If you could speak to the photographer, what would you ask him? why he chose to use a horse and jockey as his subject
- What title would you give this photograph and why? 'at the races' because its a horse and jockey.
